Wrong again.... premium members can still post in the BST. Why would they cancel just because of this and lose options...? The BST is better now, listings stay on the front page longer so premium members are benefiting big time.

What restrictions exactly are you coming up against? If there are any, it's most certainly a bug and should be able to fix it pretty easily (but I would need to know what it is).

Not sure who told you that, but they are mistaken. The forum doesn't even generate much revenue in the grand scheme of things even when you factor in all revenue streams from it.

How exactly are you measuring quality and traffic drops? Every way I've been measuring it, it shows the opposite. So far since the change these are some stats:

Overall: 4.06% more visits, 6.11% more unique visitors, 36.64% higher visit duration, organic search traffic up 1.65%.

Top 3 "high quality" countries vs. Top 3 "low quality" countries (ones who's visitors generate < advertising $2/CPM).
    • United States: +13.39% more visitors, 60.27% longer visit duration
    • United Kingdom: +9.21% more visitors, 36.48% longer visit duration
    • Canada: +13.76% more visitors, 30.65% longer visit duration
    vs.
    • India: +2.02% more visitors, 29.76% longer visit duration
    • Indonesia: -9.96% LESS visitors, 34.69% longer visit duration
    • Pakistan: -14.92% LESS visitors, 9.03% longer visit duration
The new stuff in place to mitigate low-quality users/spam/scammers has been working better than expected actually.

Traffic broken down by sub-continent (sorted by most traffic):

    North America: +12.09%
    South Asia: -1.00%
    North Europe: +8.29%
    South-East Asia: -9.80%
    West Europe: +0.75%
    East Europe: +6.16%
    South Europe: +2.93%
    West Asia: -8.19%
    Australiasia: +3.39%
    South America: -5.09%
    East Asia: -16.79%
    North Africa: +3.68%
    Central America: -1.16%
    East Africa: +2.92%
    Carribbean: +0.39%
    West Africa: +0.34%
    Central Asia: +5.01%
    Middle Africa: -8.90%
    Melanesia: -23.12%
    Micronesia: +17.50%

For marketplace stuff... Total bids per day up 71.2%, items sold up 63.1%, average selling price per item up 177%.

To be honest, I'm very happy with the results so far (it's quite a bit better than I had anticipated)...

So after making that post, I was like, "Why doesn't Google Analytics let me just do percentage area charts so you can easily see trends of various dimensions?"

Now you can (works with a bunch of dimensions, not just regional stuff)...

    https://tools.digitalpoint.com/analytics-charts

You definitely can see the rise of Southern Asia...

One thing I have noticed, I don't see the quality of the responses I get in the buy/sell/trade section improving significantly, it's around the same to be honest, still a lot of timewasters but I'm guessing the spammers that have been mentioned are to do with some other part of the site?

just wanted to make that point whilst the conversation was on the subject of 'improved traffic' to the site etc.

What exactly are you buying/selling (and in what section)? Some sections (for example link sales [especially buying]) I would suspect are going to be pretty bad still because of the nature of what it is. Link sales in general is an *incredibly* spammy business to begin with, and then if you are posting a buying thread on it, all the people who sell links, but aren't "good enough" users to post their own selling thread are just to flood you I would suspect.

Possibly, either way I can still bump one of my sales threads so I will just continue to bump that and if it converts enough or I get enough likes from it and I can create new threads then all is settled, until then I'm actually good since my old threads can still be bumped.

I am now an established AND liked member, several likes, AND NO! I AM NOT ASKING FOR LIKES AT ALL, just letting them happen NATURALLY!

This change has been BENEFICIAL! I would never have had so many repeat customers and live hits on my ad, the old way around. I have never been so inundated with real people, not liars and cheats! Real live business; long live DP!

I wanted to like your post....but I don't want people to think I like vB as a software platform...or think it is suitable to be marketed as 'the best forum software' by people over there who think that the objective is to have the highest possible query count of any web-software ever.

So as anyone can probably guess....I am very happy to see digital point running xenforo for the community end of things here.

I'm not finding it that slow, but that could be due to the fact I'm not logged into vbulletin.com and being served cached pages as a result (or even if not, there will be less queries than for a logged in person).

I'm at work, so it's not a good place to judge site speed from (due to the way the network is set up... awful). About 3-4 seconds for DP and 6-8 seconds for VB (after testing out several pages on each site). (At home, page load speeds are a lot quicker for DP - 2s or less, I guess.)

It was a great move DP moved to XenForo, I occasionally browsed the site before but can enjoy it much better now that it's on XF.

    Hmmmm.

I don't agree, OK I don't get masses of spammy users offering sites that have literally no worth anymore, but I'm still selecting only trusted members I've dealt with before so I don't agree it's been massively beneficial.

bit suspect the fishing for likes and then that post gets a like, isn't this what the admins wanted to chop out?

I've dispensed a few advice posts and had one or two likes here and there, so it's not hard. But it's not filtering ALL of the crud out of the system. just want to mediate the the naysayers and the people who are suspiciously positive :)
