    Of course they show different results. You wouldn't expect Google, Bing and Yahoo! provide identical results for your query, would you? That's because each service has its own index and gets data from a particular set of sources.

    As far as I'm concerned, my favorite inbound link checker is Spyglass, I often use it to spy on competitors backlinks.

    If you want to check the backlink of your website then you can use backlinkwatch.com and ahrefs.com tolls for this. These tool show the total no of incoming and outgoing links of your website.

    Hi dude, I have been doing SEO for 3 years and most of the time I used backlinkwatch. You should try if you never used it. There are many online tools available on Internet that you can easily find by Google, but if you want to go with experience then backlinkwatch is one of the best tool.

    I generally use Google webmaster tools and backlinkwatch for checking backlinks , though with backlinkwatch you don't need to verify ownership so you can see all backlinks even from your competitors.

    For other sites very good online tools are:
    Majestic SEO - it is the best, but the free version shows only partial info
    Ahrefs
    Exalead - search for link:website.com
