If it's about speed then it's Chrome. I'm a big Chrome fan, It's fast and has got some better extensions than others.

I used to be a huge fan of FireFox but lately not so much, I have been using Chrome a lot lately, but I don't know which is the fastest.

Chrome for me works better, but not when I browse across tons of tabs as that is a bad habit of mine, when i am researching things and browsing the net I like to have around 25+ (often around 40) tabs open to quickly switch between things and read over stuff, well when using Chrome for this on a lower end machine it would probably crash but if you don't use your browser like that it should be fine.

I really used to think FireFox FTW and everything until they started updating it a full version every night, prior to that (although a little exaggerated) it was great, after that it was sluggish and just wasn't for me. Although if you plan on developing websites I would say to use FireFox...

I hope someone can provide you with an efficient answer as personally I do not know which is best I just know which browser I prefer! As the above statements have just provided you with the browsers they like and not why they are faster or better. Basically I believe they responded like that based on personal preference which is understandable.

Maxthon is supposed to be a decent browser and I have used it, I like it a lot but I don't know how to properly determine which browser is best performance wise as well as most user-friendly... I like you would like to find out what others think the "best/fastest" browser is, I just hope someone could provide a little more info than the name of the browser they consider to be the "fastest"

Chrome is hands down faster and cleaner. Like the pixel monster, I used to love Firefox... but they are always always always updating and it has definitely slowed down alot. Additionally, the inspector in Chrome is easier to use than Firebug in my opinion.

It would help to know what browser you're using too (original poster) Maybe there is something you can do to improve the speed of it.

Here are a few articles that I have found around the internet for you to read over, maybe you will find a little more information there!

    www.itproportal.com/2013/01/04/which-is-the-fastest-browser/

Above article was taken from here:
    www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2413632,00.asp

    http://internet-browser-review.toptenreviews.com

A little more searching through Google and you're more likely to find even more information that will help you pick which is actually the fastest but personally I like to use Chrome for everyday usage and browsing.

I used Firefox for years. However, when Chrome was released I quickly switched and I've been using it ever since. I still like Firefox, but Chrome is much faster, uses less resources, and is more user-friendly.

I had been a Firefox fan all my life till about 10 minutes ago...
I bought a new laptop two days back and have been trying to get Firefox 18 to run nicely for the past two days. It has been hanging up quite a lot. Ten minutes ago, I quit trying to fix Firefox and switched to Chrome.

And Chrome has been running smoothly and is much faster than Firefox. Maybe its a glitch in my new system but this has made me a Chrome fan now.
