    Windows 7 has to be the best OS right now, marginally better than XP, but only because 7 supports more than 4GB RAM.

    Windows 7 is by far the worst.
    XP is even better, and for one reason alone.
    Windows 7 has very bad issues with path names. Which is a serious drawback.
    Windows XP can be modified to look like Windows 7, or even Mac or anything else depending on what you want it (yes, you can really give XP a Mac or 7 interface).
    I would say XP is the MOST reliable and stable. And like I said, it can be customized heavily. Not by some free toolbar thing, but literally, can be made into the same user interface as a Mac or etc using specialized themes.

    Maybe windows 8 will require a good system. I think i5 and i7 proccessor will be the most required processor to run the windows 8 smoother.because the UI of windows 8 is heavy.

    as far as i have been using windows from my experience windows 7 is the most easiest and usable operating system available at present. Though windows 8 is new and coming to market soon i have some doubt about its popularity.
