I'm not using meta keywords tag for a long time but lately I attended a conference and one of the lecturers (very experienced SEO guy) argued that G did not use the tag but still gives a certain weight. Are you using keywords tag in your site or totally ignore it? Thanks,
Honestly, I don't use meta keywords. I am trying to follow yoast's rules. See the one related to meta keywords here: http://yoast.com/meta-keywords/ . And also the wordpress seo guide: http://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/ Hope it helps.
I totally ignore them and have done for many years, just like the majority of search engines have (I guess there still might be a minor, crappy meta search engine out there somewhere). Who was this so-called "experienced SEO guy"? Sounds like he's talking out of his a***. Now, if he had said - "Bing uses it and gives weight to it", then that would be bit closer to the truth as Bing uses it as a potential spam indicator (so you could say, "negative weight").
Meta Keyword are important for your website. Meta keywords are looked by search engines and must be defined. Meta keywords are to be Search Engine Optimized for your website.
I am not "experienced SEO guy". I am simply an SEO guy and done successful SEO projects. Meta Keywords are essential and should be taken care I must say it again.
We cannot add all our keywords on Meta title. Meta keywords will helps you to add affliated keyword of your work with are not on Meta title section. Meta title comprises of Exact keywords and Meta keywords consist of related keywords. Its better to have some thing on Meta keyword section will help you to be indexed for related keywords also.
hi Ryan_uk, One of my friend was saying my so one month back, but then I myself get into it to see if it actually is the truth. But what I come up with is Meta Keywords and link building SEO techniques still works. Doing so gives website increase in SERP. How ever doing black hat SEO has effected with Google Panda and Penguin updates but I have got top rank for one website by setting title tag, meta keywords and descriptions and off page SEO techniques. So I realise everything but saying so depending on my experience.
You and links123 really do seem to be in a different (older) SEO era. Guys, Google, Bing and Yahoo! (plus most other search engines) are not search engines that rely upon meta keywords tag. That era is long, long over.
You're wrong. Read this: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html
Ryan, Believe me you are mistaken, you are not Matt Cutt who will describe how Google will going to search for keywords. Google changes its algorithm and the latest is Meta Keywords are given weight age, Google is again going by it. You see after all Google guys are also human beings, they cannot come up with new algorithms in short period of time so what they do is they switch from one algorithm and again switch back to their older algorithms. When people like you believe that say "Meta Keywords" are no longer in use, Google again use the algorithm which give weight age to Meta Keywords. I have just experienced it Meta keywords are given weight age in Google search.
Meta Keywords is important for a website because it represents your website to the internet searchers. It might be an old technique but old seo technique is the best one because it won't fail.
If it means then what is the use of Meta keyword tag section now? can we leave that location be empty?
Clearly you didn't read the link to the blog above. As you mention Matt Cutts, read: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/keywords-meta-tag-in-web-search/ So, clearly you're talking rubbish.
Yes, it hasn't been used for years. It serves no purpose. The only search engine (of note) that checks it now is Bing as a potential spam indictor. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/keywords-meta-tag-in-web-search/ http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2009/09/google-does-not-use-keywords-meta-tag.html
Ok Ryan, you are saying right, we are wrong. Meta Keywords and other on page SEO techniques are no more in weight age by Google.
Did you actually read either of those blogs - the words from Google and Matt Cutts? Or are you saying they are liars, too? Google's now at about 500 signals (and it's all documented, you can read this from Google themselves in numerous places) per year for ranking, which doesn't include meta keywords. Other places to check about meta keywords: http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2067564/How-To-Use-HTML-Meta-Tags http://searchengineland.com/the-met...at-bing-why-only-spammers-should-use-it-96874 These are two reliable resources. Of course, their could be a conspiracy and they are *all* lying.
