I am of the opinion that marketing services is easier when compared to marketing products. I may be wrong in my assumption. I assume so because of the fact that most Internet users including marketers search for services more and hence they sell fast. Any observations on this?
Products sell as fast as services but you need to be very specific about traffic in that case.like Video marketing etc
Services is alot harderto sell than the product since creating better reviews is essy than fake testimonials for the services of the company.
While selling services may be easier the major downside is that you then have to actually provide the service which can turn into a major headache. If you spend so much time providing the service that it limits your ability to make sales you are not really any better off which is why I much prefer to sell products.
Services create higher expenses and are more valrunable to problems and headache with clients with specific needs. Each service is different. Products are much more defined in their nature, easier to sell and scale, and re-produce. Production in huge capacities reduces cost. Services can have higher charge back rates due to specific client needs. and lake of full pre-payments in some niches. Products are better if you know what you're doing.
Services don't scale as well as products. There is an overhead to create a product, but thereafter you can get better than linear growth. Service requires an increasing amount of costs for it to grow properly. You can market anything - as long as you target the right audience.
Its really tough to control the overheads in service industry. But there is no death to this industry. People continuously have requirements for services. Its just that we need to be on our toes all the time to see that resource cost is limited. But in product industry, the game is totally different. If the product's idea is innovative enough we really cant predict the consumers reaction to the product. its a total time investment where there is no guarantee of returns.
Although services need the support of customer service system, they are easy to sell. Products are more popular in the offline stores I believe. Most buyers tend to buy products after seeing them with their naked eyes.
This. Unfortunately this is true. It happens all the time. Marketing services is also inherently more ambiguous than marketing products. The reason for that being that every potential client has a different idea about what exactly your service, when provided, will "look" like and the effect it will have on the client's business. I've found that clients of service providers can also get pretty nit-picky and expect everything you do to be specially customized for them. Finally, when you sell services your time is still linked to your income. Invest the time to create a product, replicate it, and sell it to a willing market... and you break that link between time and money. This is huge because when you do it right you can literally make money when you sleep. Regards, Corey
