Cheap SEO Services banned?

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by kkibak, Nov 30, 2006.

I have done some business with Cheap SEO Services in the past, and apparently the account has been banned. He sent me an IM asking me if I could check it out for him but I didn't see any related threads, so I was wondering if a mod could maybe mention why?

    Thanks

No, sorry... you would have to ask them. If they want to tell you, it's up to them.

He got an e-mail but he says he has no idea why he'd be banned for that reason.. I don't mean to get annoying being an intermediary here but he's really distraught over this. Anyway I guess there is nothing more for me to do here, except maybe you could tell me someone he can contact or something?

I just finished talking to him on msn and he says he had only 2 infractions when he got banned and that the ban ends march 31st unless revoked.

    WTF Moderators?

Oh, and also the reason is unknown to him but it was sited as "system abuse."

How the hell does Cheap SEO services abuse the system? Does he provide seo services at too low of a cost with too high of a quality for his customers?

This is an abuse of authority and if it is a practical joke, no one is laughing.

    :( :( :( :(

Well okay... apparently the user in question wants it to be a public topic, so here goes...

User left a negative rep for this post (no biggie, people can leave rep for whatever they want). But then he decided to leave 6 negative reps for users of that thread with the note "And I thought I could stir up some shit ....phewww ......." (if you didn't read the post he left the first negative rep on, please go look at it). As far as I'm concerned that's "reputation system abuse" (which is what he was infracted for) since he was trying to provoke users to give someone he doesn't like negative rep by making them think it was that user that left it.

Quite the abuse of authority I've invoked, eh?

    Here's a copy/paste of correspondence:

Whoa there, relax :) You sound like one of my customers from a dropshipping site! Yelling at the mods definitely won't help his case.

Ouch.. I guess it probably is in your best interest to disclose details like this, that's some pretty attentive administration.

Anyway is it a perm ban or a temporary one?

After shawn's explanation maybe I was over reacting, but I think rep point abuse is an infraction or 5 not an all out ban especially on such an outstanding member.

Is it possible to set a proxy to any IP address? Cheap SEO firmly believes that he did not do this.

I call for a member tribunal!

I know people think we don't actually watch or manage things, but I'm guessing we see (and handle) more than other forums.

He's welcome to come back when his infractions expire. It's not like I personally dislike him or anything... I just don't have time to sit down and ask people to "Please don't abuse our system." If they abuse it, then they will get an infraction for it... and I'm sure they will remember that they abused the system in that case more so than if we asked them to stop something which they clearly knew was wrong and abuse in the first place.

No, you can't set a proxy to any IP address.
