Important Link Building Tips For 2013, Be Safe

To be safe in 2013 and avoid any Google penalty, here are some very important tips:

1. diversify your anchor text, using many variety of keywords related to your page and even using "Click here", your URL and "Read More" sometimes.

2. Have a good internal link building structure, and only link to your home page using "home", "index" don't ever use anchor text to link to your home page from inner pages or posts.

3. If you are manually building links to your site, use your time effectively, only get backlinks from PR1 or higher pages, if you are using commenting. If you are distributing articles, don't just spin articles, try to rewrite articles and post only on high PR directories with dofollow attribute. If you are posting a guest post, so find a relevant, high traffic, high page rank blogs and write high quality informative guest posts only.

4. If you are using a link building tool, service, so instead of linking directly to your pages, try to have your own private blog network (3 to 10 blogs) and use your tools to link to them and link from the network to your pages.

5. Use high quality of content on your pages, lower the density of keywords, and link to other related blog posts from high traffic and authority blogs, now can do it automatically with the new Zemanta in word press.

those tips could protect your website from the future Google updates.

yes that's right except one thing, I don't believe that you should focus building links based on PR but on website quality/authority/relevancy.

 

I'd add some words about types of links:
1) try to focus on links in relevant content and forget about footer links.
2) social links are very important. Bookmark, share, post - go social!

Quality and high authority links are more valuable for the good SEO work.

 

I don't agree with not using anchor text in internal linking to link to your home page.

Have you tested this? Is there any proof for this?

 

It is indeed interesting not linking to to your homepage using anchor text. I don't link to my homepage from my internal articles at all, when I think about it. I usually link related articles to each other. This means not the home page as that usually contains a static page of what the site is about, or my recent post.
