Canonical tag means your website are opened without www and also using to your website opened full url.
This is opened both two ways to your website. But If your site are opened two ways it will going to the spam.
So this thing is called canonical issued.

A canonical link element is an HTML element that helps webmasters prevent duplicate content issues by specifying the "canonical", or "preferred", version of a web page as part of search engine optimization.

Canonical url simply means the preferred urls which lead to your article . Simply put it is an attribute of the link tag just like we have a few other attributes for example the no-follow attribute.

    Yup, it is.

Suggestion to add canonical tag on following page http://www.outsourcing-partners.com/main.php?page_id=wordpress-developer.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do the following to add canonical tag-

canonical tags are generally used when you have webpages with more or less same content and want to tell google which page to rank compare to other.

    Example-

page 1 and page 2 have almost same content with product in page 1 arrange in a-z and products in page 2 in z-a order.

In this case we will use canonical tag and will tell search engine that content on both the pages is same to avoid any duplication issue and inform the search engine bot to rank page 1 in search engine compared to page 2.

Following code we will add in page 2's header
    -
    <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/page1" />

Hope the example helps you understand the canonical tag.

More of the same here - http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...canonical.html

The canonical tag is a new tag proposed by Google, designed to minimize crawl errors and the indexing of duplicate content in your website. Support for the tag has been adopted by most of the search engines, and it’s a good idea to add to your own website if you want to get your best search engine rankings. So let’s take a look at the canonical tag.

The purpose of the canonical tag is to help the search engines understand that you intend for one specific page on your website to be the true page. And then if there are other pages on your site that match the content on that page, you want the search engines to just index the main article.

Canonical tag is the form of the tag, which is found on the web pages and they are mostly used in the form of the search tags through which the user can easily cater to the search options. This is found on the same page of the website where the tags are embedded. Mostly the tags are formed in a small piece which contains some codes in them. The canonical tags are the ones which may be used by the people when the
search engines are to be used and thus these tags makes it quite easy for the people to find out the needed information for which they are looking.

A canonical tag is a snippet of code placed in the header of a webpage to tell Google that the content of the page duplicates a pre-existing or seperate webpage.

I think that If a website open more then two types with www.or non www. this type of issue called canonical issue.
Tag: rel="canonical" put in to the <head> section of the non-canonical version of each html page.
