I have just recently transferred to a Sociology class and have been given an assignment to create a hypothesis on either crime and deviance or health & illness. I have decided to base my hypothesis on poverty and crime. I have to administer a questionnaire for research on the statement 'Poverty plays a huge role in crime'. I am stumped at what Questions I can ask, any suggestions? I'll be asking these to the public, friends and family which I will then analyze the collected data. Serious replies only.
Actually -- if I were you -- I would try to interview people who are either incarcerated or have a rap sheet -- for greater credibility. That said, here is a question to start you off that may put the long held moot point to the test: 1. Which of the following four reasons for the prevalence of crime in society is closest to yours: a) Poverty, especially that in the inner city b) Laziness and lack of will power c) It is an inevitable part of modern progress d) Because there is injustice in our society
