New to domain selling

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by jeb1, Jan 18, 2013.

I spent a very long time finding some domain names to use for a real estate advertising web site we were going to put up - pulled down about 10 names to protect what we wanted but did not go through with the project. I did not realize that they were worth any money if sold. All but 4 - the main 4 - expired. The real estate market is very competitive and the names we have are the only one available that even begins to have name recognition so after reading some about the cost of domain names they should be worth more than most names. But what do I do now to go about selling them.I can - but should I - post them here if you would like.Tks for your time and help - jb

I would suggest you check if there is any subjective value to the names. If you want you can send me a PM with them.

otherwise try running them through Estibot. Not all that shines is gold.

jeb1 I am in the same position as you-just starting out and I have purchased what I think are good names that I can sell for a little profit-now it is a case of finding where is the best place to sell.
Is there a good guide to explain the whole process in more detail?

I don't find the domains marketplace still profitable, but you can also try 'flippa'.

Andrew, I have been told by one of the posters here that they are worth zero. But this does not make sense to me as the names are in the very competitive real estate advertising market and there is absolutely nothing available that even comes close to defining the subject. But I know virtually nothing but will keep trying. - jb

you wont get what they are worth on dp or flippa try sedo or source out an end user sourcing out a end user usually results in a higher return but longer wait

To get resellers prices -- you may want to sell them at dnforum dot com or namepros dot com. Those are the top dogs where domain forums are concerned. You could also list at Sedo and Afternic. You may want to list your names with BIN prices as on averages, names with BIN sell faster than names listed as "make offer"

Yes that might be true, check this: https://flippa.com/2842361-silver-com-yes-rare-6-letter-generic-dotcom
27 bids but only 231000$ for such a domain name!
Conclusion is that it will sell on flippa since they have lots of buyers on there, but you might not get what you want for it. It's worth a try though...

Once you qualify, DP is as good a place as any to trade domain names. You can always negotiate a good deal for a domain regardless of whether you list it for a fixed price, auction it etc.

Sedo and Acorn Domains are the two other main services I use.

    - You can directly list it at Godaddy or sedo etc for sale. See if it evokes any interest.
    - Also the popular domain name forum namepros has an appraisal section where you can post your name for free and get valuable feedback from the members there.
    - Or you could try to get a mini / micro site and sell it as a site.
