I feel like it is big time. Although Yahoo! has been on the internet for a while, it doesn't mean it's not going to close down to die at the end.

Google is so far leading and I feel like Google will continue to lead and may take over the world one day. Who knows?

Yahoo is still quite big in some countries in Asia.

However the search engine, and many of their services have "closed down".
Flickr is still doing quite good though.

Imo, it seems like it's going to be very hard for Yahoo to come back as a good search engine.

yes ofcourse it is dying. trying to cope up though. but with new search engines coming up which perform curated search, Yahoo would surely demolish.

Yahoo used to be popular long before Facebook made its way to the top. Now, it's sorta like they're on declining stage but some of their features are still usable. I use Gmail instead of Yahoo Mail but I love using Yahoo Messenger than GTalk.

I don't thinks so. May be the Yahoo search engine lose users, but Yahoo! as a company still it is profitable. Remember that Yahoo! is owned one of the worlds popular website Flickr.

Yahoo is heavily invested in emerging markets and non-english language stuff. If you live in the USA, you simply will not be aware of what they are up to abroad. The company is actually growing.

It is definitely becoming less and less relevant in my opinion.
However, I think it will stick around for at least another decade before someone buys it or merges it.

Being second doesn't mean it can't die. Google overtook yahoo and led it with a sprint, while yahoo was relaxing. Now that google is even competing with social networks (g+ with fb), they are far ahead and creating more products day in and day out.
Yahoo is rather sitting on it's toes and worst yet, killing most of it's existing products. This is a sign of total decline. I fear yahoo will not last for long after google and bing has taken all the market share.

Yahoo close some of their services, so do google..
so this is not about number one or two, its about successfull services they offer to public/users.
Yahoo been on the net long time a go before google, but their complexity in their homepage make user move to google where it only showing a text input for search a text..(at least thats why I always use google to search something)
Yahoo will be still around, there are yahoo mail and yahoo messenger that used by million people..
    thats my 2 cent.. :)
