Dp Is Now Charging Fee For Marketplace Transaction?!

Please excuse my poor English, it's not my first language.

OK I'm really pissed off now with this new system.

I just sold an item here on the marketplace and found out that DP charging 20% fee for my transaction.

    Receiver email:
    Amount: $35,00 USD
    Transaction date: January 24, 2013
    Status: Completed
    Transaction ID: 64B66010K3139xxxx

    WTF??

I can't find any info/notification about this fee on the marketplace page, even on the listing creation screen! I don't know if there is any announcement regarding this changes on the forum but I can't find any, at least at the visible place.

EDIT: Just find the info about the fee on marketplace's terms page, mentioned only once.

You should put that info on more prominent place!! Where everyone can see, especially on the marketplace pages! This is very important stuff, because as long as I remember there was no such fee in the old system so I always thought it's free to sell here.

I only using the new marketplace feature because my buyer request, if I know there is a fee (especially 20%!) I wouldn't accept his request.

    Argghhh!

^ See... well i never used the old system's "buy it now", but even there was a charge at least we have option to sell for free. now we are forced to use the paid marketplace, without proper notification *sigh*

I don't see anything about 20% commission in terms page.
Where did you see? Can you post link the page?

Looks like I have to ask 20% extra to buyer or to pay directly.

    20% is too much.

^ And DP will charge you another 20% from your extra 20%, lol

Wondering if there is any cap on the maximum amount we should pay, what if I sold $100k worth or site, will DP charge $20k? WOW! Even there are no information about this!

It's always been 20% under the old digital goods marketplace as well (that's why there are hundreds of eBooks in the marketplace because they were brought over from the old digital goods marketplace).

There are no fees on any Instant Pay stuff or anything else inside Buy/Sell/Trade.

The page where you add/edit an item as been updated to make it more clear for those that don't read the terms (even though they agree that they did).

If you ask me 20% is fair. After all you are using the marketplace by placing your offers there. Well exposure costs, just look at other marketplaces like fiverr or seoclerks, both take 20% as commission.

If you want everything to be between you and the buyer, use the BST section and resolve it on PM.
Also, why is the marketplace limited to just 6 categories? Why not have a services section, like SEO, content or specific design.

Currently because it's a digital goods marketplace... it handles the actual delivery of the thing you bought, handles licensing, renewing licensing when your license expires, has built in affiliate program (if the seller wants it), etc. But there's no way we can automatically deliver a service to the buyer.

I understand, but the seller can deliver himself the service in question and everyone can be happy. Now, I know this can become very tricky especially if the seller says he delivered everything and the buyer is still unsatisfied and they eventually cry out for support.

But maybe somehow limit the amount people able to become service sellers by choosing only professionals. This way everyone can stay generally happy, not to mention that both digitalpoint and the sellers will make good money. Over the years I've notice one thing here regarding the marketplace, lots of buyers looking to spend money on services, only to find lots of scamers and poor quality services.
I stop searching for clients here some time ago but when I was active and got clients I remember most of them being very happy they found a good seller. I still work with a couple of them at the moment.
This is why I think a professional, official service marketplace can attract a lot of "big fish".

Maybe... Certainly something to consider... For *now* we are still working out the bugs on the new site. Not ready to start building new stuff (yet).

So let me get this correct if i was to sell somthing in the new market place , and sold it for $20 DP will take 20% = $4 out of the $20 for a fee, and then out of the $16 i get paypal takes a fee, so i get left with about $12?

Sounds about right. Even though paypal fees are different for everyone (from country to country) and it would be cool not to have any fees by the way!
Some marketplaces actually have that, when you hit withdrawal you get the full amount in your paypal. Is that possible here? Because I agree, 20% + paypal fees is a little bit to much.

Yep i agree it sounds a lot of fees, we turning into flippa more each day.

Insted of a fee , why not set a price to list in the new market place , like $5 a listing fee

If you was to sell a startup website and it only sells for $20 at end of sale , then you are not even getting the money back you payed for the domain name in the first place with the 20% fee.

Except there no no fees (listing or otherwise) for domains or anything else in the Buy/Sell/Trade area. The fees ONLY applies to the digital goods marketplace.

But if you would *like* to start paying a fee to list an auction, I guess we could do it. lol
