Probably this is not new, still just read this now, in rules:

What does this mean? Only Amercian English / culture is acceptable? If so, it is not consistent with the rest of the rules, as everywhere else it talks about the language being English, not any particular version of it.

If it is specifically aimed at any particular section of the members, I am disappointed. DP being an international forum (I believe so, don't have any stats) with users from all over the world, it makes sense to be a little more open minded.

Whoever wrote that may refer to where http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket leads and probably update the page with his knowledge. And yes, Football is the 'beautiful game' and not 'American football', there is no game called 'soccer' for most countries around the world. Please keep the narrow minded views out of an open forum.

Cricket is the only sport where I sit back and think "even I could do better". I don't know anyone over the age of 12 who plays.

It was the "isn't a mans sport" comment that was strange. What does that even mean? Is it meant to be some macho bullshit or does he think it's a womens only sport?

I can't really answer that for him. Ignore my comment if it was the "isn't a mans sport" comment you were referring to.

I don't know anything about it either... other than you hit a ball with a flat bat (I think).

I think it's kind of like a game called "Over The Line" that we play here at the beach...

Americans are still in the baby stages for the Cricket. I don't know why such a developed country is still in baby ages for Cricket.

"baby stages" implies it will grow - nothing could be farther from the truth. Cricket in America is dead on arrival. We barely tolerate soccer (football to the rest you).

The only thing I think I like about cricket is the phrase, 'sticky wicket', which I personally find amusing.

T20 might fly but its not "real cricket". A society that thrives on instant gratification isn't going to have the patience for a 5 day test - you can forget any other developed countries picking up the sport and expect a reduced quality in the national teams of those still playing. My thoughts may not be popular if you come from South Asia but they reflect what I see around me. I live in the biggest city in New Zealand and there are only 4 clubs playing cricket and dozens for each of the following rugby, league, soccer, touch, tennis, softball, netball and even cycling.
