    altavista was the biggest spider on web before google . it sold himself to yahoo now.

    i never use altavista i forget its name;)

    I think altavista shall be ranked after google, yahoo and msn. It is still one of the biggest search engines, though can't line up the big three.

    Not a big player for my website. Google is No. 1, then yahoo, MSN and then Ilse (a Dutch search-engine).

    a few years ago Altavista was the only search engine i used. They were great but when Google popped up I never bothered using them again. :D

    Wasn't Altavista the first with Video and Audio search? I remember searching for videos on Altavista back in 2001.

    Since Google popularized i never intend to use Alta anymore. Google definitely be my first choice well if not Yahoo is still available while third will be MSN i know i'll never ran out of the results from those SE's So there's no chance for me to use ALta.:D

    Altavista was the only thing I used back in 96-97 or so. I still use it for some Babelfish translations, but not for search.

    Altavista was a great SE but it lacked a few things. I doubt it will ever gain the popularity it use to have.

    Suprisingly I was reading somewhere a few days ago that teenagers (in the UK) use altavista!! I hear the same on a serachcast podcast!! Interetsing!
