That’s funny… I am working on porting a banking system from SQL Server to Oracle….

And I test pretty much the same queries against 2 different databases.

So the result is that queries on large volumes of data are faster on SQL Server DB…

Database design and indexes are pretty much the same. Both systems are in production and professionally supported by DBAs

Oracle all the way - even more so today than ever before, now that they have MySQL AB under their belts.

Oracle support type that mssql not have as the type List and have all that have mssql. If you need to develop ASP.NET app MSSQL is more easy to integrate and anable you to make RAD. For example in the asp.net context the ORM LinqToSql can be used only with mssql and to use Oracle you need The entity framework that is more complex and hard to configure and the design of the software became more complex.

Oracle is best as compared to Microsoft. its speed and database search and query made in the oracle are more powerful and comprehensive. Storage capacity and improvisation is great in the oracle database system.

I am a DBA by profession....and if you are ready to hire an ORACLE DBA...then go for ORACLE...great stability, advanced security, superior backup means, Seamless support...

But if you do not want to hire a DBA...then go for SQL...its easy to use...with a basic RDBMS knowledge, anybody can manage a SQL database...

As usual, no one reads nor understands what the OP said.

He is asking about Oracle and Microsoft DATABASES, NOT Oracle and Microsoft database PROGRAMS. NOWHERE in his question did he mention anything about the programs that run databases.

The Oracle database is owned, controlled, and hosted by Oracle wherever their offices are located. The Microsoft database is owned, controlled, and hosted by Microsoft in Bellevue, Washington.

Since I don't know where the Oracle database is located and the Microsoft database is located only 200 miles from me, I would choose the Microsoft database as I could drive there in about 5 hours.

    Hi...

Oracle have more benefits, it can run on any platform such as LINUX, Windows, Sun Solaris, etc. But in
Ms. SQL Server it can just running on Windows OS Platform.

Of course, it's Oracle! Even though it's hard to learn, it's performance will never disappoint you. ;)
