During holidays (especially Christmas and new year), people generally venture out freeing themselves from the machine and net and this results in decrease in traffic. Again this depends on the niche. If your site is some thing related to online sales, then you will expect an increase in traffic. I generally experience a dip during weekends :)

I have seen a 25% drop since November. My travel related business overall revenue has been increasing about 20% year to year for the last three years. I am now running even or slightly lower thatn last year. There is something other than holiday effect going on here. My serps are about the same but overall web traffic is just down, period. The "cliff" approaches?

No mine kept quite steady during the holidays. I would guess that it depends on what kind of traffic you target.

According to marketing firm Experience, the top 500 U.S. retail sites had 27 percent more online traffic on this year's Christmas Day compared with last year. A total of 115.5 million people in the U.S. visited sites like Target, Best Buy, Sears, and Apple's online store.

Looking at the past seven-week period, online retail traffic went up 10 percent over 2011, and each major shopping holiday had this year, according to my knowledge...

That's good to know. I'm worried that there's another Google update that somewhat brings down my traffic again and again, sigh

Not due to these reasons but due to viral posts or social media attention, periodic jumps or spikes are seen on my blog.
