Hi all, my website www.tensecondscoop.com was a movie review blog designed for users to quickly access a movie's critical ratings. In Febuary next year the site will go into it's third year. But the problem is I've never had any major hits. I get around 10-30 uniques per month. What's wrong? Should I just sell the site and move on? Thanks in advance.
It may be best that you look at all the means that you have not done well for traffic building and attempt to improve on them before attempting another site. Unless you have figured out what you have done wrong, it will save you making the same mistakes again by reworking your plans for that site.
Well, the obvious question is: do you have any strong backlinks?. You seem to be trying to rank for reviews, and that might be competitive. Check what your competitors are doing and mimic them.
You could download Market Samurai, they have a ten day free period, you can use that program to find out the backlinks that your competition is using and also the anchor text. It sorts the backlinks by highest page rank to lowest so that you have a super list that you can work with.
It wouldnt be a smart move to sell your website because no one would want it if it has no traffic going to it getting another site would put you in a worse position you are in now the longer the site is up more likely you will have a higher pr (page rank) dont get discouraged as it takes time to get real traffic coming from organic search results invest in more back linking dont buy traffic as it is a rippoff any way you look at it !!
Hi, I would suggest you to keep focusing on link building. Backlinks are one of the main ingredients that your blog needed to rank higher on google. And also, You must use an seo friendly title for your blog posts.
You have got to make yourself visible in your niche, end of. If you don't no one will ever find you. Same old, same old.....articles, blog post links, videos, press releases, document sharing, forum posting, tutorial based communities etc etc etc. It's hard work for a while until you gain traction. Spend an hour a day doing this and eventually traffic will come. Then you have to monetise it!!!!!!
My thinking is that a site takes a time commitment of about two years of slugging to get somewhere doing the things that Andy147 has mentioned. There is trial and error involved in each area and each niche has its own problems. Some people do not have the time to make the things happen and some people do not really have the interest in developing a site fully.
Perhaps you can try to get newly fresh high quality working backlinks to your site and see how that works out for you.
Backlinks, backlinks, backlinks........ You need strong backlinks from various sources. Once that happens, you will see an increase in traffic and income. I feel that is all that is wrong. You need make sure your keywords you are trying to rank on are not too competitive, drill down, see what else you can rank on. Check out your competition, what keywords are they using, do some reverse engineering and see where they are getting their links from.
I agree with Maggie. Backlinks will greatly help your performance. But think also about more straight forward things the look an design of your website. With services like WIX ,Tumblr, Blogger, and WordPress there is not excuse for a second rate looking website anymore. You can quickly get a template from any of these services and they look great. People do not want to look at websites that look like they are from 1996.
If you were updating it twice a week for the 3 year that you owned it, you would have more traffic then you know what to do with it. You should set a route en and stick to it ! Like post every Mon & Fri or something like that and Tues threw Thurs submit a article a day to the directories. Try to focus on giving your visitors what they are looking for when they arrive on your site and that will make you focus on quality content and before you know it you will be rocking. Try that for 6 months and you will be loving life with all the traffic you will be getting! TBone
