Best Content Managment System For My Idea?

Discussion in 'Content Management' started by Valoz, Dec 15, 2012.

    Hello,

I am currently creating a website and I don't want to make it from scratch as I believe there is something currently out there that will fit my needs. I am pretty familiar around most CMS software and can do some things in HTML and CSS and even PHP.

My idea will need cms with the following, if it doesn't have everything that is okay as well.
    • Registration System
    • Member Control Panel
    • Some way for each member to create his/her own page with predefined information.
    • Then each page needs to be listed depending on a category they picked while setting up the page.
    • SEO Friendly URL's
    • Able to customize the software to my liking's, make any customization I want.
    • Open Source & Free is a must.
Those are some of the basic things I need, if you know of anything, it would help me a lot if you let me know.

    Thanks,
    Valoz

You can very well do this in WordPress, you still will have to tweak your WordPress to include custom post types to be able to let users fill their page information. There are plenty of free members plugins to let you customize registration, profile info and member roles. You will find many tutorials on it.

Why WordPress? Because when you use WordPress - you're out-of-the-box down with on-page SEO and with so many plugins / themes available - you will be in a good company.

If I was you - I would use WordPress.

    Best wishes :)

^^^ I agree if you insist on it being free and open source.

There are social profile plugins and support platforms for WordPress (like BuddyPress) that can help you achieve the functionality you may want on the user end.

If you don't want to build it from scratch, then try Wordpress. There are plugins that can accomplish what you want. This will call for a lot of tweaking, mostly trial and error t o see which plugin works best with your theme.

I think having a developer build the site for you is better, but the easiest and less costly method would be to go with Wordpress.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Use WordPress for that, it would be the best option. For the registration system and the control panel thing, you can also employ another software and integrate it with WP like vbulletin, phpbb, mybb etc if that suits you.
