What is bouncing rate in SEO? How to prevent a 'bounce'?

I just want to know the meaning of the term 'bouncing rate' in SEO. First of all what do you mean by 'bounce'? When does a web page get bounced? What are the specific reasons for a bounce? Is there a relation between a 'bounce' and the quality of web content? Finally how to prevent this situation?

Hello. When a visitor to your site 'bounces' it means that he/she leaves the site rather than staying and viewing other pages within your site. The main reason usually is that the visitors do not like what they she, mostly due to poor quality content. One of the first ways of preventing this is obviously to create a good user experience, such as by providing quality articles. Also, internally linking to other articles in your site through certain keywords within your article also encourages your visitors to click and visit your other pages, thus reducing your bounce rate which is the goal. Just think of Wikipedia and how it interlinks different articles. I hope this helps.

A "bounce" is when someone arrives on the page, reads it and leaves your site. In other words, they land on only one page and bounce off to somewhere else.

Bounces aren't necessarily a bad thing: if the visitor finds what they were looking for, the bounce is natural.

Mostly, though... they're bad. You want people to stay on your site. To do that, you need to provide them with reasons to stay... more content, interesting things to look at, involvement in a community, whatever.

The worst thing about bounces is figuring out why it's happening to you. You have to be able to think like your visitors, which is really hard when you built the site. Try asking friends or acquaintances to visit and tell you whether they'd stay (honestly) or why they weren't interested. You can find out a lot from people's reactions.

Alternatively, you can try to use Analytics to figure out why people bounce. But that's just stats, not the human info.

    Hope it helps.

Someone visits your site to get some service. But he leave away without check your website thoroughly. This is called bounce. That means, you have high traffic but this traffic is not helpful for you. This is because you have low level of articles, which I assume.

Bounce rate determines the amount of time visitors are spending on your website. If your bounce rate is higher then 60% visitors are not spending a lot of time at all. If your bounce rate is less then 50% then visitors spend time on your site. Keep it less then 50% then your fine

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. A high bounce rate suggests that more and more visitors are finding your website slow, irrelevant or unappealing.

You may track the bounce rate of your website using Google Analytics.

The ideal bounce rate would obviously be 0% but in more realistic terms, if it is less than 40%, you need not worry. Anything above that should be an alarm.

It's when someone leaves your site off of the first page they looked at. It's usually an indication that you're not showing/giving them what they were seeking.
Check your web site log reports and see what keywords visitors are using to find you; then see if it matches your site.

Bounce rate is nothing but time period of the visitor visited our website and left, if the bounce rate is high try to analyse the website for any issues or flaws.

Thanks for the useful information. Yes, Google Analytics can really come to our rescue in determining the bounce rate of webpages that we might think are well designed.
