Tips on marketing a low-volume, high-dollar website (industrial packaging machinery)

I have been reading about marketing on this and related websites, and a lot of the content is great! But, most of it seems oriented towards retail sales. It's all about goal pages and getting people to click on "buy" with their credit cards. I just started working for a company selling packaging machinery, such as equipment to put toothpaste in tubes, cosmetics in bottles, etc. If I sell two machines per month I will be doing quite well. As you can imagine, there is no "buy now" button. Instead, each product's page has a "contact us" form and if I get a contact I follow up with an email to determine the customer's needs, volume of daily production required, etc. Products sell for $5,000-$75,000 each and require special shipping arrangements.

My question is: are there SEO/web resources out there tailored towards someone in this position? Surely there is a name for my situation. How is this sort of web marketing different from the typical style?

It's really not, you just have to have a very, very, very, very good capture page and either a sales video or letter. With this type of high end product, a sales video would probably be better...

I would suggest to setup an own ecommerce store and incorporate your account on paypal or ebay to the website.
This is much easier for buyers to purchase a product from the site and they don't have to contact you for the purchase.
Unless, of course, they have some concerns or queries about the product.
When you have this feature of your site, you just have to optimize it.

Huh? Is this an automated response?

Nobody pays $30,000 with paypal, it's done by letter of credit or international bank transfer.

Unfortunately, you have misconstrued what I was trying to suggest in my post.
I also did not mention solely on paypal.
It was mentioned, and I quote, that "...there is no "buy now" button."
So, I was saying to incorporate your site with an ecommerce store wherein the buyers will just have to click on the "buy now" button easily and instantly.
I know a friend who integrated his site with an ecommerce store. He's an expert in the scripts and the like.

*sigh* In my original post, I say "Products sell for $5,000-$75,000 each and require special shipping arrangements."

There is no "buy now" button for an industrial packaging machine that costs $50,000. The payment is done by bank transfer or letter of credit. All I need is a contact form for the buyer, then I will follow up with emails.
