A question about some famous directories

    For eg, www.romow.com is very nice and famous directory.

    The domain name is quite old and has lots of backlinks however it has almost PR 0. Why?

    Very nice looking site.
    It seems to be well indexed.
    I think we might need a little more history on this site to make a judgement.

    Looking at the wayback history
    http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.romow.com
    it appears to have been a parked domain type page.
    That may be the problem with the pagerank, which hopefully will improve now that the site is being maintained.

    Romow was PR6 in the past and i believe it's still PR6, on the next PR update it'll be fine :)

    Actually some DCs are showing PR2 for this directory http://livepr.ezer.com/?livePR=www.romow.com
    The owner of Romow is working hard on backlinks etc It's a strong directory.I am sure it will achieve some good PR in next update :)

    As far as I rememeber the page structure was rebuild and so it lost the PR for inner pages.

    I think I remember reading this somewhere, not 100% sure it was about Romow.

    Great directory in any case. ;)

    Yeah just a funky PR update, I think it's probably a 6 and the owner has been buying up links.

    And for those saying "PR isn't everything" or "PR isn't important" you're absolutely wrong when it comes to directories. If you had inner PR8 pages or showed up #1 for "web directory" whom do you think would get more submissions?

    The domain was just parked and only converted to a directory after the last PR update.

    The directory is being aggressively built up and promoted by someone with a lot of experience running directories, so I think you'd do well by submitting there.

    It already has a page strength of 4.5 and once PR updates, I'm sure the pagestrength will jump to 6. I'd get in before the prices go up!

    As Jeff said, the romow domain has been around for long time, but it's only about three months since it's loaded with a directory.
    As far as I remember, the domain was only PR2 in the past.
    The directory skin was done by shabu. Nice job he has done!

    There was 2 directories PR6 that got reset by google, one is ROMOW and the other is Linkwith.us

    If you don't know it was PR6 then for you romow is a PR0 :D
