I've used DDG since 2011, and I'm surprised it hasn't disappointed me since.
Accurate results, great connection speed (takes only half a second to load), ease of access, and most importantly, the "incognito" feel of it. Unlike Google, it doesn't log and track search records. It won't beat Google as of the present time, but who knows? It might be a great rival soon. We'll see in the near future.

I have checked both the sites. As a SE user I don't like the SERP interface in "duckduckgo" as it does not have paging for the result which made me very difficult to locate a link for future reference of the SERP.

And "volunia" also does not have the mature SERP interface.

So according to me these are not Google killer SE.

No G killer but yes there has been positive reviews about this engine.

And to my knowledge there's only one employee (promoter/owner) in this company running the show !

As I understood there's no need for you to do that as DuckDuckGo automatically indexes websites. That means that yours should be listed very soon.
On some forums people say that DDG uses site results from Yahoo and Bing Searches so they advise that you try submit your site there, just to be sure. :)

I am really into my online privacy, I know how difficult it is to really stay safe online and and to hide from prying eyes, it might not even be possible but I like to do what I can.

I was really excited when I saw duckduckgo and like the concept, I dont like their result though, they are awful! Terrible, when I search for something vaguely technical the results it gives me back seem not far from useless.

Is anyone else using this? I want it to be great but it really isnt, what are your experiences?

It is my default browser. Obviously you have not learned to make proper use of bangs yet, because then DDG is any search engine you want it to be.

    HI,
Both Google search and DuckDuckGo have their share of great search options. One of DuckDuckGo's best features is the Bang option that allows you to search and redirect to any site directly.

DuckDuckGO's results are improving over time. There is an active community behind the search engine, so you can propose any changes you think would improve the results. I switched from Google to DDG a few months ago and I'm pleased with the results. If I can't find something, I complement my search with other search engines. But I've been doing this since I got my first Internet connection back in 2001: it was Virgilio.it, Altavista, Lycos and HotBot at the time. :) And I used them all.
