How to choose SEO Firm?

We're looking to find a good and reliable SEO Firm in US or oversea countries such as India but most of the companies are scams and won't work half the time they promise to. Our budget is not very much which puts me to believe we should go with a oversea firm. Does anyone know a place to read reliable reviews of firms or can refer a good firm for SEO for our website www.lifetimebath.com.

You can carry out your seo plan with yourself. It is easy to learn some basic seo knowledge and more are learned in practice. Also, you can hire a professional seo firm if you would like to see the expected result earlier. It sussessful cases can be used to see if it is a good one.

    Hi,

I suggest you look at sites like oDesk or Freelancer.com. There are SEO specialists you can hire there as well as SEO firms. It's safer to deal with them through oDesk or Freelancer because customer feedback is included in their profiles so you know if you are getting a good one or not.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

My advice is to do it all by yourself or within your own firm. Outsourcing is extremely risky due to the new algorithms. Even unwillingly they can ruin your site. If Google sees any manipulation to the SERPS - it will penalize heavily.

In some cases for limited time, for certain projects, you might buy certain services/products from SEO firms. But only when you are 100 % sure about what they are providing. Make sure you know the potential downsides.

Remember, you get what you pay for. If you're not paying much, then don't expect much. Also expect spam. You are better off designing your own marketing strategy and outsourcing small parts, but keeping overall control. For example, if you need some videos for a YouTube campaign, then you could outsource making them, but keep control of promoting them. At least that way you know spam isn't going on.

At least, this is the approach to take if it's a site you really care about and want to ensure it will do well in the long-term.

However, if it's a site you don't care about much then you could hire someone to do all, accept it's crappy SEO, and forget about it until it stops being profitable. Be really sure you don't care about the site enough to want it long-term though, because it will be a lot of effort to undo the damage later.

Anyway, as for choosing a company: Educate yourself a bit first before going for any SEO company, by at least reading these two articles:

Don't Like Snake Oil? Stop Buying It!

6 Sure-fire Signs That Your SEO Company Sucks

    Good luck!

I wouldn't choose based on "guaranteed results" because we know this typically means rented, spammy, or other bad, short lived techniques. This is because they risk your website / business because they will only get paid if it works, and if it doesn't move on to the next one. Choose a SEO company that is transparent in exactly what they do with full reporting.
