Microblogging has become a staple for those looking to do some social networking. Microblogging provides you with the ability to let your friends or followers know what you are up to, using up to 140 characters.Whether you are a real estate agent, letting your clients know of upcoming open houses, or a high powered executive keeping your employees up to date, microblogging has become a highly used tool. In any case, microblogging is a great way to keep in touch with your followers and very effective when used between blog posts.Below are the top 9 most highly used and effective microblogging tools.
    • Twitter: Well you shouldn’t be shocked with this one, it kind of was expected. Twitter has been around since 2006 and has continuously gained new users each year. If you’re looking for the best, this is it!
    • FriendFeed: FriendFeed is a great microblogging service and if you are looking to combine several social networking services together, this site does it. Although it does a lot, it may get to be a little too much. But then again, it is per user experience, and you may just like it!
    • Tumblr: Tumblr is a great microblogging service if you are looking to provide content in all types of media formats. Text, Audio, Video, Photo, Chat, this does it all. It also has some great customizing features too.
    • Plurk: Plurk is setup in a time line format and while is somewhat new has become highly popular in the U.S and Southeast Asia. Definitely worth checking this site outlive with Yiaps Beta on Tu. October 30, 2012.
    • Yiaps: Snapshot the life. Share things with friends, anytime, anywhere. It just went live with Beta on Tu. October 30, 2012.
    • Identi.ca: Another great microblogging service, similar to Twitter. While similar you are able to do things like have groups, and has geolocation. Similar ? Yes. The same? Heck No! Check them out!
    • Google Buzz: Well if it’s by Google it’s sure to be a heavy hitter. If you are looking for integration be sure to use Google Buzz. Besides, if you have any other Google based tools, you can connect them easily.
    • Meemi: This site (similar to Tumblr) has some great features. I’m actually quite fond of the fact that you can share content in so many different formats. Be sure to swing by their site.
    • SpotJots: This is another site, similar to BrightKite. Again provide geolocation functionality, which allows you to actually meet other users. It’s great for anyone looking to make personal and business connections.
