Pay Per Click vs CPM

    Hi there,

    I started building my site and thinking which will work better for me.

    Pay Per Click or CPM?

    My site will be a free step by step web design tutorial site, and I'm expecting my visitors to be "Returning Visitors"

    My target market is in US and UK but I'm also expecting visitors from other countries.

    What do you think?

    Thanks a lot!

    Then I think you have both on your site since you have returning visitors it will boost CPM and normally PPC would work fine...So Both I Suggest you to keep it.

    Said in a very short non-subtle way:
    CPM -> Getting views (Branding effect)
    CPC -> getting Visitors
    CPL -> getting leads
    CPS -> getting sales

    If you have a realy well worked out marketing strategy and you are going to build your brand, you can go for CPM. Otherwise I would simply ignore it.

    UNLESS advertising through CPM gives you shc a high CTR that it's cheaper to work with CPM than CPC.

    PPC - The Advertisers bid on keywords that they believe their target market would type in the search bar when they are looking for their type of product or service.

    CPM - CPM allows for assessing the price performance ratio for an insertion on an advertising medium.

    You sure should run both types at your site. That would allow you to compare revenue and probably switch to one scheme only.

    Taking into consideration your site specifics, think of products/services your customers could be interested in (for CPA campaign) and choose appropriate network/campaigns for that.

    Either can be effective. It typically comes down to the cost of the keywords you are targeting. CPM tends to be less expensive on a per lead cost, but the lead quantity is typically much higher, which can add up quickly.

    You should try both, split test them either so they evenly alternate in the same ad spots between visitors. This way you can determine which of the two is most suited to your site.

    I personally favour Pay Per Click, however as that's my business it's only natural.

    Try both, compare, choose. You may decide both work for you, in that case keep both.

    Good Luck with the new site.
