Homepage: Is It really Necessary To Have One On My Website?

Hi,

I am currently running several niche sites that don't have a homepage. As I post new content, it is the first thing my visitors see when then enter my site. I was wondering if this may be hindering my success in some way. I've seen several site that have homepages that still only feature the content anyway. And if it is hindering my success, what type of homepage would yield the best conversions? Please advise.

Definitely! It's the main station of the link juice to link back. Nothing to think without it.

 

I never depend on my homepage to get conversion because high conversion page usually came from landing page which talk about specific product rather than general or everything in one.
But homepage is a need which is hard for people to trust you if you ask them to go your shop to buy product without a well storefront and only a storeroom .
usually conversion are came from some flow which they might come from hompage only toward your product page or they go your home page search for other product then just back to the landing page to make purchase.
So i believe its a need for homepage.

 

Every websites definitely needs a homepage. Homepage stands as the face of your whole site and a lot of people always looks for the homepage first before going to internal pages.

What would be nice and original would be that if one go to the homepage he is then redirected to a random article of the site, each time a different one. In that case there would be no homepage indeed.

Agree with the comments above, you do need a homepage. Remember to have an awesome landing page for higher conversion rate!! This is very important!

 

Parton my ignorance, but what the difference between a landing page and a home page?

 

Thanks for everyone's responses. Now comes the tedious task of trying to create a productive homepage. Any ideas?

 

On my homepages I add a lot of links and pictures. I add titles good colors and stuff like that.
