When Search engine Spider/crawler search your site in the Internet then the process called crawling.The search engines are constantly sending out spiders/bots and crawlers to discover which websites contain the most relevant information related to the certain keywords.

When you search for something over the Internet (Web), search engines (e.g. Google) send out "bots" or "spiders" to "crawl" into the multitude of existing websites in order to find the most relevant ones to your search, hence the term "crawling." What these crawlers basically do is create a copy of the websites that are most relevant to a specific search (specific keywords typed in by Internet users). They keep this copy so that the next time a user searches for the same item or keyword, the search engine can quickly provide results.

On the other hand, every website aims to be found by internet users to gain popularity to its target market. This is where SEO comes in. Search engine optimization (SEO) is basically the set of strategies a website uses in order to appear in the first (or nearest possible) page of the results generated by a search engine and, in turn, get the most number of visits (traffic) from users/searchers. Optimizing a website involves editing its design, HTML coding, and content to increase chances of being found by search engines when users type-in certain keywords or phrases. But because search engines have crawlers that remember certain websites, SEO for less popular websites (e.g. your new business's website) would also necessarily involve preventing these crawlers from remembering only the "giants" so that these newbies get a chance to appear in search results.
