How to start building the website in joomla

I don't really know how to start in building my website in Joomla. Is any specific order I must do this?
Must I chose any template first or I can do it afterwards? Or I should write all content first, gather all articles for all pages, and other elements of pages and maybe then I should sort them out?

I hope someone will help me in this. Thank in advance.

Hi, you don't have to do it in any particular order but I recommend that you do the basic website set-up first (basic settings, design, plugins you want to use...) so you can add the content bit by bit afterwards while having a presentable and fully functional website already. If you need help with some things inside Joomla, there are many step-by-step video tutorials and other material available online that you can use to get started quicker. Just search for "Joomla <your task here> tutorial" in a search engine. Hope I could help.

Thank you for your comment. You mean basic set-up: name of website and something like that, design? you mean menu and website structure? I will look for youtube tutorial then.

    Hi, Brother

I used joomla for a few year, but after I moved to word press, joomla is very low and have many disadvantage.
    Would you consider to wordpress.

    Word Press:
    - Small size of script
    - SEO optimization can help your side fast traffic.
    - Structure of development very good.

Let talk with you next article.

    Sam

Firstly, I am not your brother, mate. So please don't call me like that.
Secondly, I prefer to stay with joomla for a while. I feel it is more advanced than wordpress. I think wordpress is overrated. I am looking for easy program but more stable and richer functionally. I don't know none of them good enough to make right choice but well I feel joomla is better for me. Maybe in future I will change my mind.
Which script do you mean? CSM has a lot of files
I think joomla has also some tools for SEO optimazation
And joomla has a lot of tools and resources for website development.

First I will stick with older version 2.5.7 which has better support right now. For sure, later I will switch over into version 3.x

Yes, you re right, only 70 extensions are ported to 3.0 for now, and most of them are on legacy mode. Switching from 2.5 to 3.x is really an adventure :D

Joomla seems advanced to me too, but I always have some kind of problem with it - its just not that user friendly.

But anyway - to answer your question, it is best to setup the website as the other person said - but also if you can get your content going as much as possible, do it - as you wont be able to rank in Google these days by having crappy content.

There are plenty of tutorials out there, just do a quick Google search, or even YouTube.
