    There's one of the problems. Nearly all of his posts are "thanks man" "problem" and the like. So far his contribution to this forum has been a waste of time.

    Yes you have to make some type of contribution, either providing good advice or bad advice. People come to forums to learn and if others are just spamming and trying to boost their post count, then the forum will lose activity and if that is the case, then what is the point of even being there in the first place? Always add VALUE to whatever you do and good things will come your way :)
