Hello I find it really, REALLY HARD to promote something. An example would be a fundraiser is just set up. The website of the fundraiser tells me to use social networking website(Twitter, Facebook, etc.). I don't use social website that much OR I don't have any friends on social websites. So I set up a twitter account and start following over 200 people and only 4 or 5 follow me back. I start asking people to retweet my link with the fundraiser. I got banned off of twitter. Next, I use chat rooms, but I instantly got kick out of the room. I can't write articles because I don't have anything to teach people. I could probably get ban for writing about my fundraiser. I also tried yahoo answers. They deleted my question. I don't have a website either. I don't have money for that right now.
You don't strictly *need* money to start making your own website. I've used computers for a long time to earn money and I can tell you that you can get a website that can reach out to people on blogger or something like that. What exactly are you trying to share if you do not have any content?
You can share your affiliate links on the forums as signature, on the popular social networks like face book, twitter, you can have your own blog, etc.
for fundraisers you can make a short video about your project and upload to kickstarters.com and they will review it and make it public.
