Dp needs more moderators. There has been a guy spamming the forum all day and not one moderator on all day yet. Half the moderators don't ever come here. Some haven't in years. Why not remove them and hire new ones?
Agreed. You'd be amazed how difficult it is to find good moderators though. Not as simple as just promoting random people. BTW - if someone is spamming, use the Report Post option, and we can see it. It doesn't matter how many moderators there are... if users don't report things, there is an *exponentially* smaller chance it will be cleaned up since you are relying on us running across it randomly ourselves.
Indy, you can be a moderator in a way by reporting posts. But, I'm sure you know that by now . digitalpoint, I could volunteer to help around here sometimes if you need me. I have a lot of experience moderating vbulletin. I worked for years with Theo-zzz and his vbulletin forums. Anyway, Indy, there is a lot of spam we can see, but there is so much we cant. I saw a screen shot of the hidden spam the other day... people were trying to sell drivers license on DP. lol .. OK.!
I do my part reporting people for sure. Ask Sarah, deluxdon and Smyrl lol but, Ya, I guess it is hard to find good moderators. Just wish we had some more to help around here. There seems to be a lot more spam lately that goes a while without being removed. JoyGoRound sounds like a good candidate. Plus I know a few other people around here that would be good ones. Rob Jones would be a good one and he is a mod at v7n so he has the experience. @joy - Ya, I do more than my fair share of reporting lol and ya, I'm sure there is way more than we see.
One of the problems is vBulletin's reporting system well... kind of sucks. It doesn't handle all content types, it just tosses everything into a single huge queue with no separation (like it would be easier to have moderators handle just certain areas if it isolated stuff so they can only see stuff that is pertinent to their area). A revamp of the reporting system has already been done (it's part of the revamp of the whole site), so once that's in place it will be more realistic to have moderators able to handle just certain areas and not get overwhelmed with seeing everything from everywhere.
I do agree with indy.I too have noticed lots of spam here lately and wonder where the staff is.Even if we report such spammy threads and posts, you still need active moderators to quickly remove them
Thanks, but I don't do it at V7n anymore either. Takes a serious time commitment to do it right, and I have enough irons in the fire without it. I'm sure Shawn can find some good people, there are plenty of good guys floating around the place.
