    - Avoid having too several ads and hyper enticing banners on your website. They interfere with website navigation and build guests ‘ad blind’.
    - build website navigation as straightforward as attainable.
    - prune your main page right down to necessities.
    - make certain you put in the analytics code on all the pages of your web site.
    - embrace quality content and highlight your best posts on top of the fold.
    - Write a tag-line or promotional material for your main page.
    - Add Polls to induce Visitor’s Opinions & Keep Them Busy
    - build your website straightforward on the attention with gentle graphics and layout

Dear...we have to make our website user friendly so that we will able to reduce the bounce rate...If we ask, when bounce rate increase, when visitors will not stay more than 2 seconds...We have to put unique content for users and modify the navigation link and design according to user friendly and then search engine friendly

Since the factors leading to the high bounce rate are poor website design, navigation and content. To fix this issue use appealing web design, get quality links, optimize the keywords and add fresh content. Moreover, to enhance the traffic I personally suggest you to go for Re-Vu, a plugin which builds SEO ratings.

People do not like to read alot. They like to get where they are headed and in a hurry. quick links seem to drop bounce rate by up to 10%. Even though you have a main menu, if people see too much words they just run away. Have the content needed for the page below where it is super easy for someone to navigate

    Hi,

First of all understand what BounceRate is.

When visitor comes to your site, land to any one page, dont go to another page and exit from the same page, your bounce rate is 100%
When visitor comes to your site, land to any one page, go to another page and exit from the same page, your bounce rate is 50%
When visitor comes to your site, land to any one page, go to another page, go to 3rd page and exit from that page, your bounce rate is 0%

Google will calculate the average bounce rate of your website using the above formula.

Now to decrease the bounce rate, you need to make your website such that visitors never exist from the first page. They should at-least visit 2 or more pages before they exit and for that whatever you can do, you do.

    Thanks.

In addition to several useful suggestions made above,

    1) Check your logs to see what keywords and phrases people are using to reach your site. Are they relevant? If many people land at your site searching for irrelevant or poor-match keywords, your bounce rate will remain high no matter what.

    2) Check your logs (again) to find your top landing pages. Carefully check those pages and make sure they are engaging and aesthetically pleasing enough to facilitate user retention.

Remember, according to reliable research sources, you typically have less than 5 seconds from the time a visitor lands at your site to engage him/her. If the page a visitor lands at fails to do this, it'd mean pong...... one more bounce.

Add a search box to the most visible area of your pages, top-left.

Also you should keep them longer at your pages. This is more effective than lowering bounce rates. Use some eye catching colors in your css or add a few relevant images/videos to the pages.

    Sigh....

Not everyone wants a low bounce rate. If your site is designed to sell something as an affiliate a 100% bounce rate may be ideal. Think about it. Do you want the client to browse your site or go buy something you are recommending.

Before working on your bounce rate determine WHY you want to change your bounce rate.

If you are trying to keep users engaged on your site then a few things can help dramatically. On a blog NEVER post the entire article on the front page, always use a snippet of the post along with a "Read more" or "Continued" link to get readers to move along to the next page.

On interior pages always have snippets of other relevant articles in the category to give them more reading options with of course "Read More" links at the ends of the snippets.

Clean up your page navigation so it is clear, purposeful, and easy to understand. Reduce distractions. Make your content above average, preferably FAR above average. Intermix audio, video, visual, and text content to engage people on a variety of modalities to increase their interest. Always include "See more", "Read More", "Additional Information" links at the end of every piece of content.
