Camtasia Alternative-- Anyone got paid version I can use? Will pay

Discussion in 'Graphics & Multimedia' started by zaggernaut, Oct 12, 2012.

I need to convert a silly presentation format into video for Youtube.

Camtasia is the best quality as far as screen capture is concerned. But it requires monster PC config to run properly.

Any lighter alternative to Camtasia ?

Anyone got pro version? I will pay reasonable amount to do 3-4 minute screen captures.

If you just want to create a video out of slides, you can simply use Live Movie maker on windows which can do it. And yes, Camtasia takes up lots of resources. So if you are looking for an alternative screencast program, I suggest Camstudio. And for editing programs, live movie maker or Wax.

Thanks mate, but these are slides done by a program called Prezi. So they are not regular PPTs. That's why Movie Maker or Authorstream won't work I need a screen capture. Camstudio is poor quality.

    Thanks for your input.

Doesn't Camtasia Studio still have their free trial?

Have you tried their free Jing screen recorder? I don't remember if it records in a format that's compatible with Youtube, but you can try "Any Video Convertor"

I don't get what you mean by poor quality. The quality depends on your PC. Download their Losless codec to record it in 720p Tru Clarity. It's quite good for the price of free. Or try Fraps if you have some time ;)

Naah mate I have tried Camstudio on different PCs, not worth the time.
I am now taking your advice and downloading Fraps. Looks okay, at least light 9 2.2 MB) to download.

You can get a free version of Camtasia from thepiratebay.se. It's stolen software so be careful to only download torrents from "trusted" users.
