we want to make a full online file converter which cover any file type to any. and we wanna buy TV ads and etc. it will be millions of users daily. looks lots of resource is needed but if we buy this much dedicated servers we really can't pay that much bcoz we don't know how many server we have to buy ! this was problem and project was down till i heard something about cloud hosting. is that possible i just buy a cloud server and don't worry about visitors and site get down ? (http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/)

You can buy a cloud based system and just grow and expand it as needed.

Many cloud based system will sell you xx amount of B/W, Space, and RAM for xx amount of price. If you need more, they can provide more space. Some I think will even automatically give you more if they see a traffic spike of some kind.

Cloud servers and cloud computing are good alternative for many people on the web and that have many advantages and facilities for their users with reliability at the same time. The trend has been increased now to handle many issues like cost, security, management and compatibility of software and hardware with remote access.

Try signing up for a cloud provider that supports auto scaling. This way you can have it configured that new nodes are added when certain amounts are reached, like max. amount of ram, it will then automatically add server nodes to handle sudden spikes.

But cloud hosting is just one part that can help you scale; you should also make sure your code is optimized.

Yes, contact rackspace - they will be able to set you up with an auto scaling cloud.

However rackspace is very expensive, so try www.stormondemand.com - excellent support, excellent cloud services and good people in behind the company.

Cloud servers does not come with dedicated CPU this is the only difference and then the overhead of cloud layer makes it bit less powerful than a dedicated server, there are different processors and no longer clock speed is equal to performance, cpu type also makes difference. If your website is not in top 100,000 cloud is fine, but less means better to go with E3 type server.

The beauty of the cloud is that not only is it highly redundant and can have near to perfect uptime, but you can move your resources up or down as needed. If you know you are doing a big promotion and traffic will spike then you only need to scale your resources up for the occasion and then when the spike diminishes you can move your resource needs and thus the costs of your cloud service back down. It is the perfect type of hosting for those needing hosting for development projects or startups that can be small and take of overnight.

Buy Cloud Servers and add more Resources as your requirements grows. As Cloud hosting is scalable and more resources can be added without much changes.

With a bit of knowledge you can save some big bugs building your own cloud. At least that is what i did

Seriously? "Build your own cloud"? For commercial purposes? Right...
    1. Knowledge - you'd need to have some extensive knowledge about cluster-computing.
    2. Space - you'd need a dedicated space, even though you could probably set up something at a colocation.
    3. Bandwidth - both internal and external - what's the point of having a super-strong server somewhere when you need to actually be able to reach it and send out data from it at next-to-no latency.
    4. Bugs? Or lack thereof - seriously? You think a single person with amateurish knowledge of the concepts will be able to set up something like this in a short time-frame without serious bugs, not to speak of "avoiding the big bugs already present"? I think it would be wiser to just go for a tried and tested setup...
