Backlinks are easy. You can use something like SEO Spyglass by SEO Powersuite....My personal favorite. Keywords aren't as easy as looking in the source code, unless they still have the META tag available, which is no longer needed in SEO. Looking at 'H' tags, page titles and META descriptions will give your a good idea of which keywords are being targeted.

Tracking your competition's Backlinks is no different than tracking your own. Yahoo Site Explorer is free and it works as well as or better than others I have seen. So,louboutin, make the list of competitors you wish to track and make yourself a weekly task to plot the number of backlinks your competitors have. In addition, sort the results by Google PageRank to see how many high Google PageRank sites are included in the results. This is the best indication of quality links so you should track those as well. Plot them on a graph using Excel so that you can establish a trending analysis. It's what we do here at Optimum7 for all of our clients and we are getting paid to do it.

Search phrases and inbound links are important but they aren't everything. To be able to get a thorough concept of how your competitors is position, you need also to examine your competitors' Web page Rankings in Search engines and how they execute in Search engines and Search engines. You should also look at the number of listed webpages the websites of your opponents have with Google.

First you must select one best keyword as related to your website. Than make search in google.com. Now you get so many websites for the same keyword. Then you must target first 3 website as a competitor and use the keywords which are used by those 3 websites.
