Well, for me narrowing on a single type of products will make you more popular on the web and you can earn more. For example: if you choose Auto as your niche then most probably you will fail. You should choose a narrower version of this- like: car>> four wheel drive car>> ford [just an example] the last one should be your niche.

Like you can review a definite brand of phone and it's apps, updates related gadgets and you are set to go. the idea is to make exact for the people they search. One can do better result in the search engines if they stay only on a single niche. if you are writing on music do not go for the world music. Stay on something like classical, rock or jazz. build your site on that- put some products related to that genre and you are good to go.

The problem any new affiliate marketer faces is to find the product that interests him and find the one that will be profitable. you should use the Google adwords keyword tool to find a better keyword- which searches a lot but the compition is lower for your niche.

DO NOT USE THE KEYWORD TOOLS TO SELECT YOUR NICHE :) :) :) - Ohhhh- I said that !!!!

Yea, I agree, I'd look further from cj... if you've got tivo, or some kind of recording software where you are located. Go ahead and check out the paid programming infomercials on tv and find the networks they are on.

Then go ahead and create a campaign for that. find keywords and make it happen.

    Believe me, it works wonders...

I would recommend to choose a niche and focus on it 100%. When I started my site I had really crappy rates from ad networks. After 6 years, the rates for adsense alone average around $1.20 for our site.

I would also recommend getting people in that niche to either guest post, come to your site, and/or link to your site. My site is in the music industry and I have ties to some of the bigger bands now and it has had an impact.

That is my two cents, I hope it helped. :)

Sometimes it is a waste of time to pick a product and then build some content around it. So, as mentioned by @forumcrazy and others, build some content and traffic on one niche or subtopic, and do your searches at the different affilates for matching vendors. There are some good markets suggested in the thread already, and some good ways to promote, too.

Personally, I like the idea of narrowing down as far as you can go in a specific field - like for example - instead of selling the carpet cleaning machine, you might want to sell the shampoo and replacement water dispenser. That's just a generic example, but I think you can get my meaning.

If you have already bought your domain and would like some articles to put on it, let me know. If you need help, I will work on the cheap. But, hey! There's nothing wrong, or better than, getting some good free advice from experienced web promotors - I hope I am not the thread killer here, please keep offering advice, everyone :) ;)
