First Dedicated Server - Need Help

Discussion in 'Site & Server Administration' started by digitome, Nov 24, 2006.

First off, i hope this is the right section. I believe it is. I finally got my first site that is in need of a dedicated server, i did alot of research and found the host i like. The server i found they have 4 options for OS and i'm just not sure which is best, if anyone could give some advice on which OS is the most stable. They are Fedora Core 4 or 5, CentOS 4 or Windows 2003.

Also do you think its worth the extra money to upgrade from a 10Mbit port to a 100Mbit port?

    Thanks for your input.

CentOS all the way... How much for an upgrade to 100Mbit port?

If you site has huge traffic, then go for 100Mbit port...I hope you can upgrade whenever you need.

Another vote for CentOS if you want stability.
If you want "bleeding edge" (which I don't think you do), then you could choose Fedora.
