    I would highly recommend you Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

    Photoshop is the best for bitmap images and Illustrator is better for vector graphics. I hope people here understand difference between bitmap and vector graphics. So bitmap graphics are ordinary photos and vector graphics are used for logos and other simple graphics.

    If he wants to create just a single logo, he could simply use the trial version off illustrator/photoshop that is available on adobe.com

    I do prefer Photoshop because of following reasons;
    -You can learn more of Photoshop through actions
    -It save you from repeating steps
    -It allows you to enhance photos in one click
    -You can apply various effects easily
    -It speeds up the editing process
    -You can work like an expert
    -You always get consistent results
    -It can save money from hiring experts.
    Thanks

    What you want to design, a photo or a video or anything else? For a photo, I suggest PhotoShop, everybody knows that it works good while for video, I've no idea, maybe you can k google for your answer.

    You can rely on Photoshop because it is a large graphic design software program.
    It enables a novice photographer to touch up recent photos, and experienced graphic design professionals to create advertisements, logos and marketing pieces.

    Photoshop is the best for editing bitmap images like photographs. Of course, you can also do logos and banners with it but there is another better program for it, Illustrator, also Adobe's.

    I think adobe illustrator is best software for logo designing.Logos created on illustrator are vector logos.which means they can be re-sized to any size you want without loosing it's quality because some day you might wana put your logo on large billboard or large poster.;)

    This is all about vector graphics and there are mainly for simple graphics like logo. They are called vector because they don't lose their quality if you change their size.
