Thanks Everyone, i've now started to gain quite alot of attention on the site, and it has been less than a week... 1st day was 10 visits, next day ~50 visits, yesterday ~150 visits.....today i don't know yet.... Ive been constantly marketing the site but not spamming, ive even had about 6 viewers submit their photography and ive been posting it and then linking it back to them via facebook.... Nearly everything i had createdhas grown so far....facebook likes, twitter followers etc... Content on the site is more beefed up, and of the 14urls, 8 have been indexed by google so far. How am i doing?
I think social media can help in your case. Have you tried to share the pics and your article in Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest? Pics actually tell stories by themselves, which makes amazing pics the best tool to attract visits.
Yep ive been sharing the pictures on photography fanpages on Facebook which google analytics is showing as my most used referral website I don't want to start putting ads on the site until im set on a good daily visitor amount - maybe after 3-6months or so... Any other ideas for me? Im kind of writing a checklist as i create a new post now.... 1) Create Post and publish 2) Add Post to my facebook fan page and twitter 3) share posts on other facebook fanpages 4) share post on authors facebook or twitter account and become a follower/facebook friend 5) post images from article and submit to pinterest, and weheartit.com 6) resubmit site and image urls to webmasters...
Hit Instagram and Pinterest right away! These 2 sites alone (not even mentioning facebook) will bring truckloads of traffic. Also, you might want to contact people who already have thousands of followers to post one of your pics (along w a link to your profile or page) on their social homepage.
Thanks for the insight,I am not get any referrals from Pinterest yet? I don't think my board, or pins are even getting views, and i have no followers.....Is this a common problem? I even logoff my pinterest account and try to view my photos filtering by category ive used and i can never find them so i dont think they are getting published???Any hints

What would the prize of a contest have to be (at minimum) in order to drive traffic to a site? Would many people come just for a $10 prize or would it have to be at least $100 or more? I wonder if there is a general minimum that people care enough about in order to go out of their way to enter a contest. Regardless, the contest is a great idea for one other reason.
