What are SEO tips for getting a website ranked?

I've got a new website and I am promoting it the same normal way I always do which works.. eventually. I'm just curious what SEO tips (your best please) you have that I may not be aware of to get a website ranked high in the SERPs? "With out any penguin effects"

 

You just need to use white hat SEO Techniques then no any penguin will effect your website.

Use normal method of seo, first do on page optimization, like set title, keywords, description, header tags and fresh content. Then in off page optimization build link organically build quality links, make branding of site, do guest blogging, press release, classifieds, forum post, blog post, etc.

 

Below are list of factors that you have to keep in mind while promoting your website:

1) Onsite optimization factors(meta data,image optimization, anchor text optimization, Header tags (H1 to H6).
2) As your website is new, you should not rigorous submissions to get backlinks based on the panda and penguin, to get better ranking positions, one need to have quality backlinks, so please have list of quality websites for submissions.
3) Offsite activities include directory submission, blog submission and commenting, article submission, press release submission,classifieds, forum posting and guest blogging.

Get as many backlinks as you can

 

The funda of Google is the same. Improve backlinks gradually and get backlinks from high authority sites in natural way. Update your site with fresh contents only.

Build backlinks slowly and naturallly, but VARY the anchor text!

 

I have done SEO on and off for about 10 years it changes all the time my best tip at the moment would be to concentrate on social engagement, actually engage don’t fall into the trap of attempting to create backlinks on social, the idea is to engage with real users and build up a community.

Backlinks are good but social activity is better a mixture of both is the perfect, the days of article submission and all that nonsense is over, “I know that will spark an argument with most SEOs but it’s my opinion”

Any site that excepts content without approval is a waste of time, having a wordpress and blogger is fine but these should not be made for backlinks, these should be made to make the users of your site aware of events, promotions etc.

It’s best to portray yourself and your brand as a company and do real company stuff, imagine you had a business behind the website, treat it like this.
My SEO Company has over 50 twitter accounts, example shane@myseocompany becky@myseocompany and we follow separate business sectors on each account that may be interested in our services.

We use this technique with most social sites, it portrays we are a huge company with lots of staff, for backlinks this is normally linkbait or press release of events and promotions we are doing “even if you are doing none”

The same with forums, we sign up to forums that have users that may be interested in our services, instead of doing SEO aim for conversions, Search engines are not stupid they can see what we are doing, and they can see it works by our stats, this they are OK with, just blasting out huge amounts of junk on sites that already have huge amounts of junk is not something a real company does, real company’s do things that will generate them profit or show off their brand.

Sorry to everyone if I sounded rude but I can’t describe it any better in the long run that mind-set will be more beneficial to you than any SEO tactics you may learn.
1 highly targeted user is worth thousands of untargeted wasters if someone comes to my site and flicks back I hate them, this ruins goals and conversions aim for 100% conversion and you won’t go wrong.

 

Diversity! Diversity! Diversity! Especially after the latest update! Different platforms, different keywords, generic keywords like 'click here' are good. web 2.0s, articles, social bookmarking, social networking, image sites, video sites, directories, wikis! You name it, keep it diverse. Get good quality backlinks, not spammy type ones. Backlink your backlinks and you should rank anything!

 

If SEO is new with you. I suggest you take some course before asking at a forum like this. As most of people here have a strong knowleage in SEO and it's hard for you to understant their answers

There is no new or some hidden technique for promoting your site.
You just simply do seo activity as you do but keep in mind that link building is only on some good sites and in limited quantity.

Make quality content is essential to get high rank.Then do all the possibilities of link building to your website.Optimize your website according to google webmaster guidelines is better way to get high SERp.

 

Use Google guidelines while doing proper SEO, otherwise Google might put your website in spam.
