I see so many newbies who struggle on how to get started in the Internet Marketing game. I always advise people to start with list building. Below is a short list of 3 reasons I feel list building is so important for building a long-term business. Relationship building: People purchase products from people they know, like & trust. This gives you an opportunity to develop a real relationship with people before they make a purchasing decision. Targeted: The people join you list because they’re interested in your niche Passive income: You can set up your email sequence weeks or months in advance, go on vacation & still make money! I agree with you 100%. Many people who get started in this business focus their energy and soul in trying to sell a product to anybody, they are eager in making money online, but they failed along the way, because they do not understand the process of making money online. To success in this business newbies need to understand the process and have the right attitude towards the business, many of them think because is the web, money is going to be made overnight, which is not always the case. The first priority should be focused in creating your own list, even if it takes you 6 months or more to create a handful of subscribers, if you spend the first few months of your online carreer working in developing your list, you will see a regular income coming your way
You're spot on with what you say. It's fine in itself building a list and offering a free item in return for a first name and email address, but you have to maintain a relationship with your list and give them decent information or they will quickly want to unsubscribe. If you have say 3,000 names and you offer a decent product either your own or a good affiliate product then, you should expect a good few sales. I know a guy who has a good sports betting forum with a list of approximately 20,000 people and gets about a 1% return on anything he promotes, as people trust his judgement. That's a whopping 100 x whatever he promotes and over a year that's colossal amount of money.

This is exactly, what the email list offers. But, most people forget theres a series of steps and battles to go, to even be there.
I agree that relationship building is a MUST with your list. If you have no relationship and they don't have a clue who you are, it's most likely they wont buy anything from you.
