Is Twitter marketing a fad, or is it here to stay? If it is here to stay, how can businesses utilize it ?

I think it's here to stay, it might go up and down in it's popularity but it'll take a lot for it too go under. You can send a lot of traffic to your blog/website via twitter direct messages.

Agreed, both twitter and Facebook are here to stay, but there's going to be a time when here is just to many people and the features are so rich that it's hard to use - resulting in new social networks and sites popping up as people will get bored of them on personal levels.
Im no longer interested in Facebook on a personal level. It's now all about twitter, but I can see in the next few years something new popping up.
We all move on and move up!

I think eventually there will be something else that comes along... but as previously mentioned most celebrities are on Twitter, and I think it is here to stay for a very long time.

If you're using Twitter as a spam tool, then you're doing it wrong.

Its strength relies on the networking capability. If you're a blogger, use it to get in touch with other bloggers. If you sell something, get in touch with potential affiliates and e-mail list owners.

Leverage is what Twitter provides and it's goddamn useful at that.

Twitter is growing and they will continue to grow. In fact, they are more aggressive monetizing their platform now.

People will get bored of it eventually. It always happens online. Look at MySpace, was huge. Does anyone go on MySpace now?

I don't think so KingMonkey, Tweeter has it's own audience which is huge. It won't fade that easily.....
