Is having words like "Microsoft" or "Google" bad in domain ?

If a domain has Windows or Google or any words like it in it will it can cause a problem after it got popular ?

 

Its odds on favourite that you 'could' have trouble and is not really worth the hassle of building up a site to have problems in the future and loose the site,of corse i could well be wrong but is it worth the risk and all the hard work involved.The bottom line is its your domain you could give it a try.

 

I wouldn't venture on that if I were you. It's too risky.

Both google and microsoft, like chevy, ford, ibm...all trademarked.

They could go after you big time if you have such a domain.

Nah..you just go ahead man.its just fake.its no more 1996 for their Domination.ebay was the more dangerous issue.they closed filed many cases,one is perfumebay.com then brickbay.com.lol.they shut them up and parked those domains with ebay.but that was in old times.want an example...

you're going to have problems if you register and use a trademark in your domain name, especially if you're aiming to make money off of that.many website owners register trademarked names and get away with it.your ownership is considered non-legitimate.you can get in trouble for trademark and copyright issues.But even some Branded Copyrighted games like GTA,Call Of Duty etc allow users to make their own fan site - with their brand name included.like gtagaming [dot] com.gtaforum[dot]com etc.and yet, they're still online so that goes to show you can have one with good intentions .

 

I dont think they would allow it. That would seem like registering a domain in bad faith

say your domain is a phrase and someone trademarks a similar phrase.... after both of you had your domains in use. can they come after you after the fact?

 

Ofcourse you will be see that day once your domain noted by the company who own the trademark.
It already show lot of example how people getting trouble with the trademark domain name.
exact match and pharasematch trademark name usually easy to get caught.

 

It would definitely be dangerous if you get big enough and somehow compete with Google or Microsoft or reduce their profits in any way.

I wouldn't take the risk if I were you because I wouldn't go through all of the work building the site up then losing due to legal disputes.

Some companies are more protective than others. Disney is one example of aggressively protecting their trademark.

 

Both of the terms you've mentioned are trademarked, as other users in this thread have already mentioned.

Basically as soon as your site is visible on Google or any other publicly visible platform you will be contacted by the respective companies legal team for intellectual and trademark rights violations. Worst case is that you have to take your site down therefore putting to waste the effort you've put in. They will even shut down affiliated sites with them as essentially they're profiting from revenue they would have already received.

Having worked for companies such as Sony and Panasonic, this is the procedure they follow which is no coincidence. If in doubt, read the terms & conditions of the company first.
