We recently had a very strange problem with Google. When we completed the newest version of the site for Dynamic Systems at http://dysyst.com/, be added to it a small PHP script that sends us an email with page title each time a user enters page. Plus, we installed the normal Google Analytics code, too. Then during a few days the script was sending to us email very frequently (sometimes 20 emails for hour). But when we compare the records for the same time period by Google Analytics, we see that it displays much less visits or page views! Has somebody have a similar problem?
If you compare it with any other analytics then for sure you will see the difference. In fact you compare the results of hits from server and google analytics then too you will find fluctuation. This is because of time difference from server. Also, Google consider 20 hits as a 1 hit if it you website is being visited by same IP same person in a short time span of 20 mins.
> Also, Google consider 20 hits as a 1 hit if it you website is being visited by same IP same person in a short time span of 20 mins. Thank you! In my case there were other differencs, too. The number of visitor IP's, too, was very different.
One can also easily block the analytics tracking. There are some addons (like Ghostery) that'll block many trackers automatically.
If you are very sure you that there is a problem of tracking, try using another analytics tool like Clicky to cross-verify!
i do have a tracking problem....my analytics show 0-15 visits but my blogger shows more than 300....dont know which is right
Also remember that GA does not track visitors that have Javascript disabled in their browsers (a small proportion, but worth keeping in mind). The most accurate tracking software is one that is server-based; that way, it doesn't matter if visitors have Javascript disabled or not. It would track all visitors.
you will definitely ntice a difference in any of the two tools you used, because every one has thier own criteria of tracking visitors on your site, Google is not different but you can trust data shown by Google on Analytics.
