Free methods of getting traffic

I have seen posting asking about how to get traffic to their sites, here I am sharing my free and effective methods of getting traffic:

1) Blog commenting
2) Forum signature
3) Join Top Sites Lists
4) Surf at traffic exchanges for free traffic in return
5) Join banner exchange
6) Post videos on YouTube, watermark it with your site's URL and also put a link back in the description
7) Give away free ebooks with links in them

Join Top sites list means ? Can you explain this. Also traffic exchange is spam dude.

 

For me Google has always worked. And its the best free ways to get traffic to your website.

Other than Google I have also tested with Yahoo answers, facebook and they have also yielded good results for my websites.

 

yes these all the good method to get more traffic on our site.but if you want to more traffic then promotion of your website in social sites for example facebook,orkut,twitter,
facebook is the best choice to get more traffic.And it is easy and more useful method,

a great post about site ranking but can you further explain about " Join banner exchange " ?

 

From your list, 6 and 7 are the best, I don't think banner excange or surfing for exchange of visitors is really worth the trouble.

 

Youtube & Forum gives a lot of traffic

 

Check out classifieds, they can rake in quite a it of traffic for your offer. Especially if well targeted add

I use a few of the ones you have listed. I would also add social media to that list, last night I submitted an article to Digg, Stumble & Reddit and I DOUBLED the traffic to that post within an hour or two.

'Top Sites List' is kind of a site where you joined and add a little 'voting button' on your site, so people who visited your site can vote for you and you'll be ranked in this list, there are lot of top sites lists on the net, it take times to choose a good one to join, join those which reset at least once a month so everyone on the list has a chance to come up on the top on the list.

 

I do agreed with you that banner exchange has little effect on your traffic, but since I have extra space on my page, so I think it's no harm just adding in the 468x60 banner exchange code and see how much traffic I can get.
