rename theme?

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by MokeyButt, Sep 4, 2012.

I purchased a WP theme I love, but don't want my competitors, that copy everything I do, to know what theme I am using. (I know they can create a similar one but I want them to at least have to work for it).

This may be a silly question, so please forgive me if it is. Is there a way to rename my theme so that when they look at the code they will see some theme name that won't help them at all?

Sounds simple to me, but I'm not a coder.

Thank you for any help you might provide.

Noorlinks and MikeWike I appreciate your help. I have no evil intentions, I am not going to resell the theme, steal any business from them, etc. I just want a custom name. Thank you for all your help.

Well, you would have to change the name of the folder where the theme is located (wp-content/themes). Then you should search for the theme name in the source code in your web browser. That will give you the idea in which files you will find all occurences. Also do not forget to rename it in files readme.txt and style.css.
