Did a press release at PRWEB.com with the $80 package After 24 hrs the stats are 14,939 Reads 164 estimated pickups by consumer/media persons I had a look at some of the press releases that are positioned on top of the home page. Looks like if you pay over $200, and even if your press release is horrible you stil get an excellent rating
I don't trust their on site stats. Could not verify their "Reads" with my site stat pageviews. It's somehow just as estimated as the pickups. Otherwise it's a good service, I like them except for their stats.
"Reads" basically means people who read your press release, not actual people who visit your site. I think since they sindicate the press releases through RSS to thousands of sites i think your press release is being read on those sites/blogs etc
Agreed i don't really trust the stats there. However the 80$ one did have some effect for my site, and it ranks top 30 in yahoo for good keywords. Heres my stats on an 80$ one Realeased: Sep 5, 2006 Editor Rating: 4 Reads: 48,684 Estimated Pickup: 755 Prints: 7 Forwards: 2 PDF Downloads: 144
indya, I never knew that about google using PRWEB for some stories. Interesting... is there any other good Press Release services anybody has had experience with?
That doesn't mean much. Google News also picks up from some free distribution sites like www.PR.com and www.prleap.com.
has anyone used there press release writing service? as i would like to get a press release done about my new site, but i couldnt write a decent release, im crap at writing
If you're looking for a PR professional to write your release for you, I'd be more than happy to help. You can find my rates and some samples on my business site.
Reads, I think should be better understood as impressions, like a banner. Someone loaded a page, part or all of you release was on it. May or may not have been actually read.
camp185, exactly, you get the point jhmattern, thanks! good info. What about Yahoo? Also get picked up from the 2 services you recommended?
I think reads is actually more like a hit then an impression. Such as when another website scrapes theirs.
I'm not sure about Yahoo with PRleap, but I'm pretty sure PR.com isn't included, at least with the free version.
$120 one Reads 39,016 Estimated Pickup 464 Prints 1 Forwards 0 PDF Downloads 23 BTW, the PR sucked, if it would've written by a PR writer, I would've been much better.
How much traffic does a good PR bring to a site? I would like to know more about the effect of PR on traffic. Thanks
Dont expect too much from PR in the short run. My site was the first on their main page and the hits i've got and stats werent different than i paid $80. PR is brand awareness in the long run and good backlinks if it's taken by the press
Press releases aren't about direct traffic, and to try to measure their success that way would be a mistake. You want people to read the release and to have them interested enough to want to at least mention it (but preferably write a news story / feature about you). It's about publicity, getting your name out there, etc. It's also rare that a one-time mention is going to cause significant visitor increases. You should build a PR plan around trying to find ways to stay in the media year-round. The more familiar people get with you from seeing mentions, the more likely they'll be to check you out. They'll also come from links in online media (not so much directly from links in the press release) where you're mentioned, or if you get mentioned in print / broadcast outlets, they'll be direct visits.
