Yes. Google is a spam warehouse. And yet our shares rose past $500 the other day.

Well with all the penalties they are imposing hopefully spam should be less of a problem in the future. It's obviously still possible to affect rankings though (that's what keeps SEOs in a job)!

Well first you would need to put a label on spam, sometimes a webmaster will spend tons of time and money on seoing a site but only to get outranked by a site that looks like it was designed in 1998 and they'll complain and whine to google about spam and keyword stuffing.

Don't be so sure, it seems like everytime there is a google update the ammount of spam in the index stays the same while everyone who plays by the rules gets dumped back 50+ spots. Speaking for myself, ever since big daddy it has been a lot easier to shove 10,000 + pages into googles index and on average they'll survive for about 3 weeks which is more than plenty of time.

This is exactly why Spam is a never ending battle, a focus on the 'footprints' makes more sense in the long run and is resource friendly... I doubt you got tossed because of 10K pages alone... a little link spamming methinks? Or how could it be 'more than plenty of time'?

    hmmmmmmm

    lol I know right? :p

No you are wrong. Black Hat SEO are the ones who effect it in that way. Real seo only put sites where they belong.

Wait a second. Now your insinuating that google moved your position because of a algo change. That is usually very wrong. Alot of times your methods will either be discredited or your competitors methods given more value which is why you lose rankings or the most likely reason you aren't doing as much as your competitors. You got to keep up with your rankings or you will lose them. Algo changes don't effect that if done right. I never have any trouble with updates or algo changes.

Most of the time, I recieve relevant results, so I personally wouldn't consider it a spam warehouse.

No mate you hit the nail - it is vice versa. Google is so popular so we got to throw mud at it. Some people just can't see a good thing if it smashes them on the head.

I find that if I am searching google for anything that might appear on ebay, I just automatically click page 5 and start looking there. ebay confirmed at an ebay seller dinner that they pay for the top ranking on thousands of keywords. Any of those will get the scammer sites that look by the google summary to be applicable but clicking on them will take you straight to ebay with some spammer lined up for the commission.

I find that more and more I go to msn for anything that might even remotely be consdered an ebay keyword just to get away from the scammer links.

Are you talking about organic or adwords? Ebay does pay a massive amount for Adwords...

But if it is organic you can usually tell be the URL. If it is something spammy like my-keyword-is-good-keywords.info or something like that. I am sure you know what I am talking about. But also keep in mind those of us who make a living with affiliates ethically(I don't but some do). I am talking about those sites which are done nice. They provide you with info and usually a choice of a product and DON'T automatically redirect you to a crap affiliate page. I am sure we are on the same page here. If so I totally agree. I am fighting with one of these crap artists in the affiliate forums.
