Is this a SCAM in Google's name?

I've had two emails from the email account I use to sign on to my Google account. It includes a link to my latest blog and is accompanied with text I've cut and paste below. I haven't clicked the link as I cannot recall signing up for it. Is it a scam? Has anyone else come across it? Who should I report it to at Google? I've never had a reply from Google in the past so I won't hold my breath...

Testing this option out - will be useful in the future.

Why would Google send something from my email account to me? This is a method used by Viagra and enlargement spammers... and now Google?

What, are you saying if I sent you an email from your email address you'd take that to be normal?

PS of course "it seems from Google" but as it comes from my email address it seems from me to me too.

Check the link, where does it lead to.

It could be a fishing scam to get your account detail

The form requires the URL of a page suspected of phishing. I suspect an email which purports to come from MY EMAIL ADDRESS from Google.

It would be appreciated if people read and understood the thread before jumping in with irrelevant and incorrect information. Sometimes this place seems to be peopled with users who want to increase their post numbers. Annoying or what?

Do the forensics... check the email headers... where did the email originate from? Get the IP of the original sender then check it out in a terminal with the 'host' command. That will tell you if the originating IP was google or not (also a great way of checking on bots to see if they really are google.
